About the weave Ikat is a traditional textile dyeing technique characterized by its distinctive blurred or feathered patterns. The word "ikat" itself comes from the Indonesian noun ikatan which means to tie or to bind. This technique is widely practiced in various cultures around the world, including India, Indonesia, Japan, Central Asia, and Latin America. The process of creating ikat involves dyeing the yarns before they are woven into fabric, resulting in intricate patterns that appear to be slightly out of focus. The defining feature of ikat is the resist dyeing method used to create the patterns, where sections of the yarns are tightly bound or covered with dye-resistant materials to prevent them from absorbing dye. Fabric Care Ikat : Hand wash in cold water with a mild detergent and dry in shade only. Use a gentle iron.Certain fabrics like Ajrakh, Ikat, block prints and natural dyes may bleed excess colour.
